Volunteers come from all walks of life and range in age from child to older adult. Consistent opportunities to serve include meal preparation, we serve sake sack lunches daily and yearly from the church. Bags should be labeled with the contents. Consider leaving a bottle of water/Gatorade for each lunch.

As an individual, you can contribute to The People’s Shelter by helping our staff in various kinds of tasks, ranging from administrative intake, computer, special events and sorting donations, or helping with our Food Box Ministry. We can also use male volunteer drivers to help transport meals to the hotel
Meal Preparation: Meals are prepared by volunteers and taken to the hotel and left outside their door or they will receive a breakfast voucher to Burger King, McDonalds, etc. The rooms have a microwave and a refrigerator.
We will make sure they have plenty of cups, utensils, napkins, etc.
There are 2 ways we can make this happen:
(1) You can prepare, put in disposable containers, deliver to each room at the hotel (knock on door, leave at door, contactless delivery, if choose) between 6-7pm. Please TEXT our outreach phone 573-382-4964 with:
–your name and the date you are serving,
–the meal you are serving (dinner, lunch, breakfast)
–if you will take to the hotel on your own of if you need to meet at the church and the time that will work best for you.

Overnight warming shelter is open when the temperatures drop below 25 degrees. Due to covid, we have house individual and family in hotel for as many nights that are below 30 degrees. Price Budget inn is $65 per person and Town House inn is $71.99 person
